So yeah.... I am back in Denton, just got the internet hooked up in my apartment (I am rooming with Heather). I am starting my master's degree in library science, and I am really excited. I got a job with the UNT library (this semester all my shifts will be at the library at Discovery Park) and I am going by later today to fill out paperwork and then for training.

But, for anyone in the area, feel free to visit, just give me a call to make sure I am home. My apartment is pretty strict about some things (no more than 2 guests at a time and no pets, not even in a car in the parking lot) so don't plan on coming by with a huge group of people or a petting zoo. I have weekends and any evening except Thursday free.

Later! :D

So, I am graduating in May, and I have a few graduation announcements left over after Mom gave me the list of relatives.

If you want me to send you one, comment here and then email me your address and how you want me to write your name on the envelope (if you want it all fancy with your full name or whatever)... so basically just make it so I can copy it straight onto the envelope....

People who have already asked me are definately getting one, and after that it is first come, first serve since there aren't many left.

I will let you know if I run out before I get to you, and I will probably send you a card or something as a substitution....

GRE
Well, I managed to do pretty ok on the GRE despite the fact that I have a horrible cold.....

Here's hoping I can get everything else important together and sent off to UT on time.

Should be heading back to Austin on Friday night or Saturday morning, so I will see all you Austin folks then.

Sorry about the shortness.... same as always...

Finals= Bleh, but soon over

Alright, for those of you I still haven't told (and I am sure there are quite a few, sorry ><;) I have recently changed my plans for the future.

Before, I was planning on applying to JET, then maybe getting a masters in ESL and moving to Japan to teach English as a career. I decided that, right now for me, moving to Japan to live on my own for a year and try to handle all those new responsibilities at once is a bit too much. Instead, I am trying to apply to get into the Asian Studies masters program at UT Austin. After that, I may try and do JET for a year and then become.....

A highschool Japanese teacher here in Texas.

Yes, a challenging and exciting career, but it is actually something that seems like it would be fun for me to do.

I just hope I can get into UT... the deadline for my application is January 10, and I have a ton of stuff to get done before then (including taking the GRE on December 13 @_@)

I am going home to Austin this weekend, so anyone who wants to see me, let me know and I will do my best to visit. I am driving down there thursday morning (cause I have class until 5pm on wednesday, it sucks, but at least I get booze) and I should get done with family stuff.... sometime...

So let me know!

and I figured I would post this since it scared me a bit (wasn't sure what my results would be, but I certainly wasn't expecting this...)
Sorry to anyone that is disturbed at all

You scored as Ichimaru Gin. You're Ichimaru Gin, Captain of the Third Division!
There's something that twists the insides of people when you smile in that certain, creepy way. You also might have a few people that you get to do your 'dirty work' for you. After all, it's easier to look uninvolved and keep your hands clean while you pull strings behind the scenes!

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your LJ and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

XD This should be interesting....

Well, classes seem to be pretty happy, though one of my linguistics classes got cancelled and the only other section that is offered is at the same time as MEK... Sadness forever...

Anyway, here is my schedule:

Intro to creative writing- MWF 10-11
English Language in America- MW 12-1:30
Beverage Survery- MW 3:30-5
General Linguistics- T/TH 11-12:30

I had to drop Semantics in Linguistics... I need to decide soon whether or not there is any other class I want to try and take instead...

Intro to creative writing should be a fun challenge. The English language in America class seems *very* interesting. The Beverage Survey class the the learning about alcoholic beverages and getting lots of samples class, the teacher seems great and really funny. The general linguistics class also seems very interesting. If only they hadn't cancelled my other class, this would be an amazing semester...

Anyway... I should start working on my homework soon... @_@

My mom still doesn't know whether she will be able to pick me up from the airport... things are very uncertain still.

But if it comes to it, it seems that I may have to rely on the help of Matt and Alex. If you guys could grab me and either take me home to Austin, or let me crash at your place until one of my parents can come, I would be very appreciative. Plus it would be great to see you guys! :D

I will be leaving for Tokyo soon, so I won't be able to use the internet for a while, but when my mom lets me know I will email Heather and have her updatee my livejournal for me or something.

Matt and Alex: If you guys want to get in touch with me, you can email me at
raveoleos@ezweb.ne.jp
It's my phone's email so I will be able to check it whenever.

I may need help. My mom's mom is probably dying and so mom might be stuck in Houston for awhile. My dad is super busy with work.

Which means I may not have a way back to Austin from DFW airport..........

If anyone with a car can help, I am willing to help out with the gas money and stuff....

And it may not come down to this... hopefully it won't... but yeah

Sorry......

Well, finals are killing me just a bit. I totally got nervous during my oral exam in spoken Japanese and screwed up horribly. And when I was backing my final piece for sumi-e (I actually really liked it too...) everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. The ink bled, it got all wrinkly and crooked, the glue didn't stick right... a million crappy things. Now it just needs to die the rest of the way while drying.... it could decide to rip in half or just come a little unglued and get all warped and shit.... or both... yeah...

Now I am studying for my reading and writing final which is tomorrow. After I take that, I will study for my spoken final that's on tueday. Then my history final thursday. Blech.

Today during one of my study breaks, I decided to experiment with that nasty 99% cacao chocolate. I rigged up a double boiler out of some pots and melted the chocolate bar with some cocoa from the vending machine and sugar, then dipped banana slices in and let them cool. Nummy chocolate covered bananas. ^_^

2. I'll challenge you to try something
3. I'll pick a color that I associate with you
4. I'll tell you something I like about you
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of
7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on yours

Despite the fact that it has been an insanely long time since my last update, this is an enirely pointless post.

:D

This evening I was in good old 7/11 looking for desert after a happy meal at my favorite ramen shop when I saw something that immediately sparked my interest: a chocolate bar that was 99% cacao. Some of you may know of my great love of dark chocolate.... I believe I have said in the past, "The darker the better," so I had to try this. Jeremy noticed a sign next to the price that warned of the product's cruel bitterness and advised the consumer to have a sweet drink handy if they were willing to take the risk. This did nothing to deter me, and I purchased the bar (just 210 yen :D) and we walked back to the dorm.

After arriving home, I recalled the warning and, grabbing a couple of milky coffee drinks from the vending machines, took my loot to share with Becky. Apparently my "darker is better" policy is only true to a point; we both found the chocolate to be a bit too bitter for our tastes and I was quite glad to have my drink handy. I intend to use the leftovers for cooking something... not sure what yet.

I am glad I tried it though, it wasn't awful or anything. ^^

-----------------------------------------

Finals are starting for me. Tomorrow morning is my oral exam in spoken Japanese; I think it will kill me. Monday I have my reading and writing Japanese final, tuesday is my written exam in spoken, and thursday is my history exam. This weekend I have to back my final painting for sumi-e and I am hoping with every fiber of my being that the ink doesn't run.... I have pretty heavy color in some places so I am spraying it many times (the count so far is about 7) but I still fear the worst. On wednesday we hang the show though, so if it does decide to die, I don't have much time to start over. @_@

After finals and the completion ceremony (gotta buy a dress for that sometime....) I am going with Jeremy and Becky to Tokyo for a few days! It should be fun. After trying many hotels we finally got one that is fairly decent and within our price range, just a little out of the way. And then... after Tokyo..

I will be coming home! happiness and sadness all at the same time... :D

So, as a promotional item for Final Fantasy XII, Square Enix has released an energy drink called "Potion."

Needless to say, we were all pretty excited, and on the day of its release we trekked across the street to 7-11 to pick up some. I got one in the standard bottle and one in the special limited promotional bottle (there are six different designs for these).

Well I have to say, these fuckers are the nastiest most vile tasting things I have ever come across. I wasn't really expecting them to be good, but damn.... I had to hold my nose closed with every drink I took just to keep from throwing it up. Everyone in our group disliked them and later we all got sick to some degree (upset stomach, headaches, etc). I think I will probably dump the other bottle out and see what havoc it wreaks on the area.
